Why every story matters
Before we ask who someone is becoming, we should take time to understand where they have been.
Every person carries a story. Some are easy to tell. Some have never been told.
We believe every story deserves to be treated with dignity. Not because every decision has been right, or every experience fair, but because every person has inherent worth.
Dignity before diagnosis
Before we ask who someone is becoming, we should take time to understand where they have been. A label can help. It can also make a person feel like a problem to be solved.
Heard, then helped
When people are truly heard, defensiveness softens, perspective widens and connection becomes possible. Understanding someone's story does not mean excusing harm or avoiding accountability. Compassion and responsibility can exist together.
A question to take with you
If you are reading this, you may be carrying something. You do not have to explain all of it to anyone. But you might ask yourself: who has really listened to me lately, and who could I listen to?
That is where change tends to begin.
