We think about the Three Glasses a lot.
The first glass holds black cola: the pain, fear, silence and unhealthy patterns that were poured into each generation. Those who poured it did not choose to harm anyone. They poured from what had already been poured into them.
The second glass is ours
We did not choose everything that was poured into us, but we can choose what we do with it. Every difficult conversation, apology and healthy boundary is like pouring a little of the black away and replacing it with clean water. Not overnight. Every day.
The third glass belongs to those who come after us
Our hope is not to be perfect. It is that because we did the work, less darkness is poured into them, and more honesty, compassion and hope.
One small question
What is one thing you would like to pour away, and one thing you would like to pour in?
